The Business Continuity Program consists of various pieces including the Business Continuity Plan, Crisis Communications Plan, Emergency Response Plan, Disaster Recovery Plan and Pandemic Response Plan. Each plan brings a unique aspect of preparedness to the business, but the integration of the plans into one program allows the business to respond as a whole to incidents.
Do you have multiple plans that are kept as separate tools?
Why it’s important
KIMC uses plan integration to make all the components fit together and complement each other when they are put into action. Some benefits of plan integration include ease of program management and coordinated communication between all plans and planning groups.
KIMC helps companies through the integration process by showing how efficiencies can be gained and redundancies reduced. Governance strategies and policies are created at a high level and are used to manage various incidents. Stakeholders are provided assurance in knowing that the company is fully prepared on all fronts. Reputation is preserved when external parties see a quick, calculated and organized response from the company.
The puzzle pieces fit together at certain touch points, just as the plans work together and often intersect. KIMC analyzes how best to shape the plans so that they come together to create one succinct puzzle called the Business Continuity Program.
Our experience
KIMC has worked with clients to create Business Continuity Plans that harmonize with existing Emergency Response Plans. We provide education on the difference between a BCP and an ERP as well as utilize information in the ERP to create the BCP.
We also created a Pandemic Response Plan for a client and then followed with a BCP. Much information in the PRP was relevant to the BCP and the client saw the value in developing a BCP that was not limited to one scenario like the PRP.
